How to take care of your bjj kimono

Before giving you some advice, you should know that the ideal is to have enough kimonos to be able to train all week.

Normally every time you wash the kimono gi , more deteriorates since the kimono is composed of cotton As it is a natural fiber, it wears out with use and washing. Therefore what we recommend is to have at least two bjj kimono. In this way while you use one the otor you can wash it to have it ready for the next training.

The gi of bjj It should be washed every time you use it since sweat is mainly composed of water with small amounts of the minerals sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, lactic acid and urea. Urea is highly corrosive and can damage tissue.

If you do not wash your kimono normally and also do not ventilate it, what usually happens is that bacteria proliferate and emit an unbearable smell.

When you wash it you should not use chemical products like bleach as they can accelerate the deterioration of your kimono from bjj .

Natural fibers tend to shrink if you wash it with hot water or use the dryer.

Our recommendations is that you wash it in the washing machine using a program for delicate garments, wash it with cold water.

To dry it, do not leave your kimono all day in the sun, the ideal is to dry it in the shade and dry it with fresh air. Do not use the dryer, it will shrink the kimono for sure.

Remember that you must train with your gi from bjj clean so as not to disturb your training partners. Kimonos for hygiene are not suitable as they can transmit fungi or bacteria.
